The Chancellor
The University Chancellor, as outlined in Section 30 of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001, holds a significant role in each public university. The Chancellor is appointed by the President based on the recommendation of the University Council. They serve a four-year term but may be re-appointed for an additional term. The Chancellor acts as the titular head of the university and presides over all ceremonial assemblies. In the name of the university, they have the authority to confer degrees and other academic titles and distinctions. Additionally, the Chancellor is responsible for facilitating visitations to the university upon the direction of the Visitor. These visitations are conducted by designated individuals or groups and serve the specific purposes outlined in the directive.
