The Senate 

Composition and Responsibilities of the University Senate as per the Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2003 (with amended Act, 2006)

Introduction:

The Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2003 (with amended Act, 2006) mandates the formation of a Senate for each Public University. 
The University Council determines the maximum number of members of the Senate, but the Ex-officio Members cannot be reduced. 
The Senate is responsible for the organization, control, and direction of academic matters of the University, including teaching, research, and general standards of education and research assessment.
